Image Sensor

The quality of the image is depends on the size of the camera sensor. The larger the sensor is, the higher the quality of the image. One may asked about the number of pixel of the sensor on the quality of the image. The answer is partial, yes. The number of pixel do affect the quality but not very much. So, if you are on the run to search for camera, do search on the sensor size and not the pixel. Currently, camera with 15 Megapixel is sufficient enough.

The largest sensor size of a digital camera is called as Medium format sensor. For this format, the name of Hassleblade brand camera is the champion. The quality is the highest. Then, we come to the Full-frame sensor. This sensor can be found in most of popular professional cameras. For Canon, it can be found in Canon 5D, Canon 6D and etc. The smaller sensor than the full-frame is the cropped sensor; Canon 60D, canon 7D, Canon 80D and etc.

The micro-third sensor is smaller than the cropped sensor. Light weight and small camera i.e. mirrorless camera is one of type of cameras that usually come with this sensor size. The bardn that is champion in this micro-third camera is Olympus, FujiFilm and etc. But do not jump to the conclusion that all mirrorless camera is micro-third camera because, there are mirrorless camera that is lightweight and has small form factor are installed with full-frame sensor. The SONY brand is the champion in this segment and its A7 series is the BOOM! for them.
